Lost Pet Reports

If your pet goes missing, Putra's Lost Pet feature helps you spread the word and connect with people who might find them. This guide covers declaring a pet lost, managing visibility, and marking them found.

How Lost Pet Reports Work

When you declare a pet lost:

  1. You provide details about when and where they went missing
  2. Choose which contact information to share publicly
  3. Optionally make the report visible on the Putra homepage
  4. The community can see your pet's information and contact you

Public Visibility

Lost pet reports can appear on:

  • Putra Landing Page - Visible to all visitors
  • Public Reports Section - Dedicated lost pets listing
  • Search Results - If someone searches for lost pets in your area

:::info Privacy Protection Even when public, sensitive information like microchip IDs, medical records, and full owner details are never displayed. :::

Declaring a Pet Lost

Step 1: Access the Lost Pet Form

  1. Go to My Pets
  2. Click on the pet that is missing
  3. Click Edit
  4. Find the Lost Pet section

Step 2: Mark as Lost

  1. Check the Declare as Lost checkbox
  2. The lost pet form expands with additional fields

Step 3: Provide Details

Fill in the following information:

Step 4: Set Map Location

Use the interactive map to mark where your pet was last seen:

  1. The map shows your general area
  2. Click to place a marker
  3. Drag the marker to adjust the exact location
  4. The coordinates are saved automatically

:::tip Location Accuracy Be as precise as possible with the map location. This helps searchers know exactly where to look. :::

Step 5: Add Contact Information

Add specific contact details for this report:

These can be different from your profile contact info. You might want to use a dedicated phone number or temporary email.

Step 6: Set Contact Visibility

For each contact method, choose whether to display it publicly:

  • Show Phone - Phone number visible on public report
  • Show Email - Email address visible on public report

At least one contact method must be visible for public reports.

Step 7: Choose Public Visibility

Decide whether to make the report public:

Step 8: Save the Report

  1. Review all information
  2. Click Save
  3. Your pet is now marked as lost

Public Report Display

When your report is public, others see:

Visible Information

  • Pet photo
  • Pet name
  • Species, breed, and color
  • Lost description
  • Last seen date, time, and place
  • Map link to last seen location
  • Enabled contact methods

Hidden Information

  • Your full name (only display name shown)
  • Medical records and health info
  • Microchip ID
  • Hidden contact methods
  • Private notes

Managing Your Lost Pet Report

Editing the Report

To update information:

  1. Go to your pet's profile → Edit
  2. Modify any lost pet details
  3. Click Save

Updates reflect immediately on public displays.

Changing Visibility

Toggle between public and private:

  1. Edit your pet
  2. Change the Make Public checkbox
  3. Save changes

Adding Updates

If you have new information:

  1. Edit the report description
  2. Add updates at the top (e.g., "UPDATE: Spotted near...")
  3. Save to update the public listing

Marking Your Pet as Found

When your pet is found:

Step 1: Open Pet Details

  1. Go to My Pets
  2. Click on your (previously) lost pet
  3. View the lost pet status card

Step 2: Mark as Found

  1. Click Mark as Found
  2. Confirm the action
  3. Your pet's status updates immediately

What Happens

When you mark a pet as found:

  • The report is removed from public listings
  • The pet's status changes to "Found"
  • A timestamp is recorded
  • Your pet profile returns to normal

If Your Pet Goes Missing Again

If the same pet goes missing in the future:

  1. Edit their profile
  2. Re-enable the lost status
  3. Update the details with new information
  4. The same report process applies

Viewing Lost Pet Reports

On the Landing Page

The Putra homepage shows active lost pet reports:

  • Scrollable cards of missing pets
  • Photos and basic details
  • Contact information for each
  • Map links to last seen locations

Empty State

If no pets are currently reported lost, a message indicates no active reports.

Tips for Lost Pet Reports

Create an Effective Report

  1. Use a clear photo - Recent, recognizable image
  2. Be descriptive - Include unique markings, collar color, behavior
  3. Accurate location - Precise last-seen location helps searchers
  4. Responsive contact - Check frequently and respond quickly
  5. Keep updated - Add sightings or new information

Search Strategies

While your report is active:

  • Check local shelters and veterinary clinics
  • Post on community social media
  • Check the area around last-seen location
  • Ask neighbors and local businesses
  • Contact microchip registry if applicable

Safety Tips
